As you would know, BMA recently made the callous announcement that it will be restructuring its operations at Blackwater Mine. This decision will have a devastating affect on workers, their families and the Backwater community. On 1 September 2015, the Blackwater community stood up and let their voices be heard.

For the last three years rail workers' entitlement to gold passes for 25 years of service has been under threat. This has been a longstanding condition for QR and Aurizon workers, provided in recognition of a quarter of a century commitment to the industry. Recently, the Queensland Labor Government delivered on a 2010 commitment to provide gold pass entitlements for former QR workers transferred to Aurizon.
