Who the AMWU covers

The Australian Public Service Demarcation Order 1996 [Print N0541 dated 1 April 1996] was made by a forerunner to the Fair Work Commission.

This order gives the AMWU the right to represent technical, trades (including printing trades) and assistant printing employees in the Department of Defence to the exclusion of all other unions.  The one exception concerns electrical and plumbing trades employees at four Defence workplaces, coverage of which is shared between the AMWU and CEPU.
