AMWU mourns passing of former WA leader, Jock Ferguson

AMWU members across WA and Australia are mourning the passing of former state secretary, the Hon Jock Ferguson, MLC who passed away early Saturday morning.

Jock was AMWU WA Secretary for a period of eight years commencing in 2000 before being elected to Western Australia’s Legislative Council at the 2008 State Election and taking his seat in Parliament in June last year.

AMWU WA Secretary , Steve McCartney, said Jock was a man who dedicated his life to working for others, whether workers' rights or simply equality for everybody.

"He was a mentor and comrade for 20 years and he will be sadly missed.

"His leadership, dedication and friendship will be sorely missed by the AMWU and our members.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to Tina and family.

Jock's funeral will be held on Friday 19 February at 1pm at the Fremantle Cemetry.
Members and friends are invited to attend. The funeral will be followed by a wake at East Fremantle Football Club from 3pm.
