Clerical workers at The Age are taking further protected industrial action after management at the newspaper failed to heed two days of work stoppage earlier this month.
“We can't back down now," was how one AMWU member put it when members unanimously voted in favour of more industrial action.
The action will take place on Thursday 28 January and Friday 29 January.
AMWU Organiser, Nadia Machlouch, said that members were determined to fight for an enterprise agreement that addresses their needs.
Rallies planned are expected to be larger than two weeks ago after significant decisions concerning other agreements at Fairfax prompted more workers to join the actions today and tomorrow.
The union’s representatives have re-stated to management the matters The Age would need to address before members could be satisfied that their key claims had been dealt with.
The union members are willing to re-commence negotiations with management on the proviso that the offer be significantly improved, with movement on key issues.
The first rally will kick off at 12:30 Thursday at the new Age headquarters in Collins Street.
