I've worked for the award rate, and I've worked in places where there were few other union members.
I've had all sorts of deals, but I've never had a better deal than the AMWU collective agreement I'm on now.
We get penalty rates, shift allowances, overtime if we want it - the lot. And we get a 6% pay rise every year.
Bosses can be tricky, but the AMWU gives us workers the expert advice that we need to know our rights, so we can keep our conditions and keep earning a decent living.
It's simple. Without the union, you're on your own - and that never works.

If your union agreement is coming up, now's a great time to make sure your workplace is 100% unionised.
When everyone is a member of the union, everyone is paying their fair share.
It also means you can present a strong, united front to the boss, and are likely to get a better deal for everybody.
