What is an AMWU Community Hub?
AMWU Community hubs are made up of active AMWU members in a local community. Community hubs meet regularly to discuss and take action on local issues in their community that affect AMWU members in their day to day lives.
Why were AMWU Community Hubs Formed?
AMWU community hubs were formed to be an active voice on local community issues. Community hubs aim to achieve the following:
- Active policy & campaign involvement on issues that affect local AMWU members
- Support of local AMWU representatives for local, state and federal governments
- Growth of the AMWU
- Quality campaign training for local AMWU members
- Equality & Respect for all
What do Community Hubs Do?
Community hubs select and campaign on local issues important to the local AMWU membership and their families. Community hubs are active in the community and act to raise awareness of the AMWU’s values and work. Community hubs work with other local community groups to achieve the objectives they set.
How are Community Hubs connected to the other organisations?
AMWU hubs have a strong connection with the local ALP, the Left and other community based organisations. The community hubs work with these groups to achieve positive outcomes for AMWU members.
What skills do I need to join my AMWU Community Hub?
You do not need any particular skills to be a member. The AMWU provides specialized campaign training to all members of their local community hubs. You just need to be a member of the AMWU and be passionate about your local community.
