Our focus is on making sure governemnts set strict health and safety laws and standards, that employers meet their obligations and that employees understand their rights and how best to organise around health and safety at work.

Julia Gillard, MP Minister for Workplace Relations Dear Julia, I strongly support the recent call by the AMWU and ACTU for the Federal Labor Government to urgently establish a national enquiry into asbestos and asbestos related disease in Australia. With over 40,000 asbestos relates cancers predicted by 2020 there is an urgent need to establish such a broad based enquiry as soon as possible. Such an enquiry could also be part of the continuing legacy to the late asbestos campaigner Bernie Banton. I look forward to hearing from you on this important issue. Yours sincerely.
